About Mordecai Baylor

I am a Visual Arts teacher from the Tacoma, Washington area. I have always been drawn to things that are unusual and imaginative, especially art. I am inspired by the works of Rene Magritte, Winsor McCay, Clive Barker and Brian Froud. Keeping the imagination alive and part of our daily lives is why I make art. It is also why I teach.

I love artwork and stories that take you to strange places, ones that explore the possibilities of "what if" from their brightest peaks to their darkest corners. It is through traveling to those realms of the imagination, through stories and myths, that we come closer to understanding ourselves and our world.

I created Tales of the Incompletely Peculiar as a collaborative work of art, one that combines the meditative practice of coloring with the imaginative art of fan fiction and puts the viewer in the role of creator.
